How the atelier started on the Markt
Rinetsdiri Atelier grew out of evenings spent redrawing desks that would not fit through the steep stairs of an Oude Delft walk-up. Founder Iris Renets kept a folding rule and socket tester in a canvas bag and measured friends’ flats until the sketches became a paid service.
In 2019 the practice settled above a ground-floor shopfront at Markt 45, close enough to the canals that most surveys are a bicycle ride away. The studio still treats every apartment as a kit of constrained parts rather than a blank office floor.

Planning by measured parts
We refuse catalogue desks that ignore shutter boxes and chimney breasts. Instead we record wall lengths, sill heights, and socket locations, then assemble a module list—desk, shared table, nook, cable run, storage—before anyone orders timber.
Clients receive dimensioned sketches and a shopping or fabrication brief in EUR, not a vague mood board. When a module needs a joiner, we introduce local workshops that already know how to carry long panels up Delft stairwells.
Working inside Delft’s housing stock
Canal houses along Oude Delft and side streets toward the university often share thin party walls and limited electrical capacity. Our plans respect those limits so a second monitor does not trip the only circuit that also runs the kettle.
Newer apartments near the station get a different kit: wider spans, more sockets, but still the need to hide cables from polished concrete floors. We adjust module depths accordingly rather than forcing one desk type onto every postcode.
